Tilt en Qult presents: Queering the Canon!
Wat als Sam en Frodo uit Lord of the Rings meer waren dan alleen BFF’s? Of dat Louis en Harry het wel héél gezellig hadden backstage bij One Direction? Wanneer queer representatie ontbreekt in hun favoriete verhalen of soms zelfs in de realiteit, dan neemt de community het heft in eigen hand. Dat levert magische resultaten op! Queer fan fiction zit boordevol spannende ships, geheime crushes en vurige romances die de originele verhalen nooit verkenden. Deze levendige wereld krijgt eindelijk de erkenning die het verdient, dat vieren wij graag mee! Let op: deze avond zal in het Engels zijn!
𝐒𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐛𝐲 𝐕𝐚𝐧 𝐇𝐨𝐫𝐧 (𝐬𝐡𝐞/𝐡𝐞𝐫) was born in NYC in 1993. Shelby is a passionate writer with nearly 20 years of experience in fan communities. Her work dives into queerness, identity, and sociology in fandom. Shelby will explore how male characters in fanfiction transcend gender and how queer relationships reflect worlds without power dynamics.
𝐅𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐋𝐮𝐢𝐣𝐭𝐞𝐧 (𝐬𝐡𝐞/𝐡𝐞𝐫) is Tilburg’s 11th city poet, Frederike, creates bold, interdisciplinary work. She writes about home, body and fan culture, and graduated from ArtEZ with an experimental collection on ADHD. Currently a lecturer and program creator, she’s also the founder of Seizoenszine and a member of the Wildgewelf collective.
𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐚 𝐅𝐚𝐜𝐨𝐧 (𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐲/𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐦) is a writer, editor, and educator from Basel, Switzerland, currently pursuing a Master's in Comparative Literature at Utrecht University. Mara's work focuses on queer literature, accessibility, and zoopoetics. Don’t miss their talk on the roots of queer fan fiction and how it interacts with its original works and authors.
